Good News for the Surface Pro 3 users- Microsoft has finally issued a Firmware to fix the battery

Certainly, this is good news for the Surface Pro users that after a long haul Microsoft has finally launched the firmware to fix the battery issue after the mid-August fix. If you have a Surface Pro 3 then maybe you are aware of the fact that since past couple of months the battery life of the tablet is failing to live up to your expectations.

Background:

The Simple   batteries implemented in the device became a great nuisance for the Surface Pro 3 users after the batteries are being used for 1 year.

Consumers in a series reported that their batteries are unable to hold the charge over time and work only while on charge and the battery life also came to a small fraction of the original, when they first bought it.

At the time, while the battery issues were first reported in a huge number in the month of July, Microsoft announced that a software fix would solve the issue, later that month.

Then it promised to issue a software fix in the mid-August and released one but again it created more problems to the batteries which had been widely reported by the users.

This time the users having Surface Pro 3 with LG made batteries got affected. They experienced that these fix made the situation worst as then the battery only stayed awake up to 1 to 2 minutes even while on charge.

So, unlike the first issue, the device became completely unusable.

Then Microsoft again confirmed its users by stating that the new problems the battery was causing, had not been created by the firmware fix, hence they will cure it again.

Finally, now it released the new fix which is claimed to be the cure for the issue.

Why the Problems are arising?

Microsoft stated that the affected Surface Pro 3 tablets will only work while plugged in to a charger but while running on battery the device will not able to hold the charge.

It had named the flaw as ‘an error condition’ when the original capacity of the battery is wrongly reported to both the Windows and to the firmware of the device.

This misreporting results in non-charging of the battery to its full ability and as a result the Surface Pro 3 tablet will unable to work on battery.

Though the new fix is obviously good news but Microsoft has also stated that if you are facing this problem then you are not at all done yet. As several cycles of charge and discharge are needed until the battery becomes capable of reporting the battery charge amount correctly to the Windows and the device’s firmware.

In easy language, if you intend to fix the problem then you have to charge the battery to its full capacity and then used up the entire charge until the battery dies.

After that, you have to again charge it all the way up and finish it again. By repeating these processes will lastly lead you to the solution of the battery problem.

But in case you are not facing such problem then disregard the steps.
