MAYS LANDING--It's World Autism Awareness Day, and you can help spread the word about the disorder, which affects 1 in every 150 children.

Toys R Us has teamed up with Autism Speaks to raise awareness and funds about the disorder, which has increased tenfold in the last decade.

As part of the partnership, Toys R Us serves as the national sponsor of Walk Now for Autism events held in more than 75 cities across the county.

The Dooley family, from Absecon, whose son, Patrick is afflicted with the disorder, have raised more than $30,000 in just three years for the important cause, “It's important to raise awareness so family can seek treatment, early intervention is a very important part of getting diagnosed and getting the services that are available for children with autism.”

Toys R Us has also put together a list of 10 toys that speak to autism, and helps children develop certain skills.
