MIDDLE TWP.-- A little over a year ago, Cape May County Habitat for Humanity broke ground on a home in Middle Township. Now, the home is complete and a deserving family is about to embark on a new beginning.
"This is really like a dream come true to us," said new homeowner, William Holly.
William Holly and his family today received the keys to their new 1,040 square foot, three bedroom ranch style home here along Indian Trail Road in Middle Township. "Means everything...I didn't, you know, who knows how I was going to get into affordable housing the way things are now with foreclosure rate being as it is, it's almost impossible," Holly continued.
Well, their dream became a reality thanks to Cape May County Habitat for Humanity and the hundreds of volunteers who donated countless hours so the family could finally have a place to call home. "What they do by donating the land, people by donating labor, material, time and effort is truly make a difference in a family's life that wouldn't have the opportunity to live in a wonderful home that's safe and warm," said Senator Jeff Van Drew.
"It means the world to us, we're so grateful, this is such a blessing," said Jacquelyn Holly.
As family and friends gathered to wish them well, the holly's couldn't ask for more...their two children, Mia and Bill can decorate their own bedrooms however they like and now have plenty of space to run around and play in. "Be in a home where they're comfortable and has space for everything is more than I can ever ask for," said William Holly.
Organizers hope to build a habitat neighborhood in the township and with a little sweat equity, the Holly's may one day help make dreams come true for other families in need.
"This family has the responsibility to pay back what has been given to them and they will and by their paying back, they are going to enable another family to have the opportunity to have a roof over their head," said Van Drew.
