NORTHFIELD-Guarding the community against drunk driving, officers from Northfield and six other police departments participated in the kick off of operation Cuffin and Stuffin which included a sobriety checkpoint last night on shore road.

Facilitated by the Atlantic County prosecutors office, the checkpoint aimed to educate motorists, arrest violators and prevent drunk driving on the deadliest driving day of the year.

Bill Elliott, founder of the hero campaign and his wife, were on hand to give out packets and stress the importance of designated drivers.

"We want to reinforce being a hero and designated driver is also being the life of the party"

The checkpoint led to 14 arrests... "four" for drunk driving.
