ATLANTIC CITY--A proposed holocaust memorial on the boardwalk in Atlantic City is one step closer to becoming a reality.
Monday afternoon at Boardwalk Hall, finalists were announced from an original pool of more than 700 from 55 countries who submitted their designs for the site.
A world class panel made up of scholars and architects was responsible for making the tough decision of narrowing the field down to just 13 designs, one of which will be selected as the set plan for the memorial, which will be on the boardwalk between Kentucky and New York Avenues, "We certainly hope this will become one of the major attractions on the boardwalk for destination families and provide a boon to the world on the message of never again," said Rabbi Gordon Geller, on the A.C. Boardwalk Holocaust Memorial Committee.
The top 13 designs will now be on display for public to view throughout the summer.
