WILDWOOD-They're re-inventing the wheel in Wildwood, where the Morey's organization is taking breakfast to new heights. It's called Breakfast in the Sky, and it's all about creating a unique experience the guests will savor.

It has all the ingredients of a high-end breakfast, while linen table cloths, fine china - fine dining, more than 150-feet above the ground. "My guess is, we're going to see some dolphins today," said Geoff Rogers, V.P. of Morey's Piers, as we climbed in one of the cars.

It's called Breakfast in the Sky, and it's the newest attraction on the menu for the Morey's organization, that has guests dining onboard their famous Ferris Wheel. "You'll get served your breakfast and then go to the top," explained Rogers.

Not just any breakfast, but dishes like shrimp and lobster omelets and homemade Belgian waffles, with fresh, local ingredients. "The food has to match the experience, and that was my challenge," said Wally Jurusz, executive chef for Morey's Piers, "we were working on it all winter, and not only does the food have to come out hot, has to come out on time."

Once served, you slowly rise above the water park to reveal the stretch of sandy beaches and the glistening ocean, setting the stage for a meal they hope only the view can upstage. "Only recently really have we been really so focused on food," said Jack Morey, "and it's really one of the great sort of treats of an entertaining experience."

The grand plan took a lot of work to become a reality. Just outfitting each car with a table that can be installed and then quickly broken down, when the ride becomes a regular 'ol Ferris wheel, was a feat in itself. "A lot of work went into it," said Rogers, "the tables were custom designed."

Tables they hope to see full, now that service is open to the public. "So far, they've responded wonderfully," said Morey, "they've signed up for reservations, so that's a great sign."

"We think it'll be something people will go home and say, 'wow, look what I did on my vacation,'" said Rogers, "I mean, there's a lot of great things to do here, but it's a very unique experience."

The experience lasts about 45 minutes, and you must commit to the full time, because once you're up, you stay up, and that means no trips to the bathroom.

Breakfast for two is $75, and must be booked in advance, you can do so by calling (609)846-1624.
