ATLANTIC CITY----Recommendations proposed by a 7-member commission appointed by Governor Chris Christie are gaining much attention since they were released.

Atlantic City's Councilman George Tibbitt said, "I do have a concern the people jobs that are going be effected by his plan hopefully he has a plan to incorporate them into the plans he has for the future of the Atlantic City casino district and entertainment district."

However, others told NBC 40 the recommendations are much needed.

Mike Diamond from Spectrum Gaming said, "The city just hasn't been up to the task of meeting its responsibilities we had a dysfunctional government for significant period of time and if anything a greater state presence involvement is overdue."

But such involvement could enforce some changes at the Atlantic City Convention and Visitors Authority or possibly get rid of it all together.

Jeff Vasser, the Executive Director of the Atlantic City Convention and Visitors Authority said, "It doesn't matter where the authority functions reside, somebody still needs to continue booking boardwalk hall, convention shows and the marketing and public relations campaign of the city has to continue."

Also according to the report that is considered a blueprint for economic growth, money from the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority will stay in Atlantic City

President of Local 54 Casino Worker Union Bob McDevitt said, "That money needs to stay here there is a significant amount infrastructure improvement that has to happen in atlantic city to make it more tourist friendly and resident friendly."

And creating a friendlier casino district is definitely top priority.

McDevitt added, "The local police are now operating in the casino district will be back in the neighborhoods where i live and many working people live and where we need."

This would be a golden opportunity for local police and for the city that's often viewed as unsafe.

PBA Local 24 Presiden Dave Davidson, "Since june 11th unfortunately 20 of our guys were laid off, we had 5 homicides 7 additional shootings, a carjacking with rape, so you cant ignore the facts and say it is safe.....could it be safer....absolutely."
