CAPE MAY -- A major Hollywood film production that was in various lcoations throughout South Jersey will finally make its nationwide premiere Friday. NBC40 stopped by a Cape May Studio that had a major impact on the film.
"They liked our production numbers, they liked how we moved the kids on and off the stage, how we worked with the little ones up to the big ones," said "Standing Ovation" choreographer Joanne Reagan.
And Hollywood film produers were so impressed with Joanne Reagan Studios in Cape May that they gave them a major role in "Standing Ovation" the musical. The teachers choreographed the 5 Ovations, a musical group in the movie.
"It was a great experience for them, but it was a lot of work, a lot of work. And we had, our objective was to take these kids, to bring them up to the level that they looked professional so the 5 ovations could win over the Wiggies," Joanne said.
And their hard work paid off, earning them a spot on the film's promotional poster.
"Every number was with, I'd say, 30 dancers from the ages of 6 to 18, but the end product, I think is amazing," said choreographer Anne Reagan.
And also, some of the dancers from Joanne Regan Studios will be appearing in the film. They say the prior experience they had with their teachers made the fliming process a lot smoother.
"I've been with them since I was three years old basically. So, they're just like family. So, there wasn't anything to be scared of doing it with them," said Paula Tramutolo, who plays "Jasmine" in the movie.
For Friday's premiere, the ladies will watch a screening at the Rio Stadium Theater before dancing the night away at the Wildwood Convention Center after-party.
"I think people will be amazed of how this movie turned out. It's just so amazing," said "Standing Ovation" dancer Skyla Lamonica.
While they're all confident that the movie will be a hit, it's the experience gained that's sticking with many of these dancers.
"I'm actually attending University of the Arts of Philadelphia where I will be majoring in dance. So, this movie helped me a lot," Tramutolo.
"It was a great experience. I'm actually going to NYU for theater next year, so it helped a lot," said "Standing Ovation" dancer Kayleigh Lamaina.
The movie has already premiered in California, and will have a screening on Tuesday in Philadelphia. It opens in theaters nationwide on Friday, and includes dozens of South Jersey children.
