Workers are busy at Boardwalk Hall. They are preparing for this weekend's Atlantic 10 Conference Basketball Championship.
Boardwalk Hall General Manager, Greg Tesone, is making sure everything is ready for the big game.
"An event like this has a little more complexity to the event, so we are building additional press areas and bigger press rooms than we normally use. And we're building additional courtside areas. So a little more work on something of this magnitude," he adds.
Tourism officials say this event is expected to have a big economic impact on the city. They say each person in town for the Atlantic10 Championship spends on average $300 to $1,200 dollars.
Game On! at The Pier, says they're ready for the basketball fans. Alumni, from some of the schools, already booked lounges at the restaurant.
“We definitely see a lot more of a draw from the A10. It's not to say other events don't see an increase in business. But being a sports bar and based on our proximity to the arena it makes it a really good event for us," says Game On! General Manger, Daren Smith.
Atlantic City Convention & Visitors Authority says a national network will televise games, which will showcase the city.
"More things we can offer people and different things to do. The better we'll make AC a more well rounded destination,” said Jeff Vasser, President of the Atlantic City Convention & Visitors Authority.
Vasser says his office is working hard to bring in more events like the A10. They’ve already confirmed Division I men’s ice hockey for next year. Tourism officials say that event is also expected to attract visitors and money to Atlantic City.
