OPERATION MEDICINE CABINET DROP-OFF SITES
Last Updated - 11/13/09 07:12 pm
SOUTH JERSEY--There will be more than 400 collection sites statewide Saturday for Operation Medicine Cabinet.
This initiative is open to all residents, as they're encouraged to dispose of their unused, unwanted, and expired medicine, as well as any drug of abuse that happens to be around the house, so it doesn't fall in the wrong hands.
Officials say all submissions will remain anonymous and no person submitting the drugs of abuse will be subjected to arrest or criminal charges.
According to a 2007 study by the National Study of Drug-Use and Health, 70% of people who abuse prescription pain relievers say they got them from friends or relatives, and upwards of 9 million people use prescription medication for non-medical uses.
