MAYS LANDING -- A man is arrested and charged in connection with the strangling death of his wife, whose body was found by a jogger Wednesday.

Later that same day, John Hilyard, 48, of Egg Harbor Township went to police to report his wife, Chun Hilyard, 45, missing. Through an investigation of the report along with the discovery of the Chun’s body lead to John’s arrest.

An autopsy determined that Chun died from asphyxia due to strangulation.

John Hilyard is charged with murder and is being held in the Atlantic County jail on $1 million bail. His first court appearance is scheduled for 1:30 Thursday.

The Hilyards' three children are currently staying with family.
