LONG LINES FOR VACCINE CLINICS
Associated Press ( news@nbc40.net ) - 10/30/09 12:11 pm
STAFFORD, N.J. (AP) _ New Jerseyans are enduring long waits in
quest of the swine flu vaccine.
Police said more than 100 cars were lined up Thursday afternoon
near Southern Regional Middle School in Stafford Township more than two hours before a clinic was to begin there.
The situation caused the Ocean County Health Department to set
up an overflow site at a nearby church.
The department had 1,500 doses of the vaccine available for
priority groups, which include pregnant women and school-age
children.
State health officials say flu activity has moved from regional
to widespread, meaning that the H1N1 virus is now present in a
majority of New Jersey counties.
The state says more than 567,000 doses of the vaccine have been distributed. But demand continues to outstrip supply.
