ATLANTIC CITY--A number of state democrats voiced their support Friday afternoon, for unionized casino workers in Atlantic City.
Speaking at a small rally on the boardwalk, democratic leaders and UAW officials criticized Harrah’s Entertainment for what they say is the company's refusal to negotiate a contract with the dealers union, more than 2 years after the casino dealers voted to unionize under the UAW, "Well I’m proud the UAW hasn't walked away from this fight because a lot of unions would, they're here to stay, to the casino industry especially Harrah’s, understand we're not going to put up with this," said Sen. Stephen Sweeney, the N.J. Democratic Majority Leader.
Harrah's Entertainment has continued to accuse the UAW of "operating fast and loose" with the facts, and the casino company also says that Caesars management has in fact had 52 separate bargaining meetings with the union.
