Pleasantville PD warn about hostage scam

Posted: Updated:
PLEASANTVILLE - Police in Pleasantville are warning residents about a phone scam.

Authorities say they received reports from two city residents about a phone scam, in which the caller tells them one of their loved ones is being held hostage.

According to police, the caller then demands money from the victim.

While police say neither of these victims fell for the scam, they are worried that someone might.

They say if you receive a call like this to not give out any personal information, especially if they ask for family member's names - instead, hang up and call police immediately.
