MIDDLE TWP. -
A family of three is displaced after a fire tears through their Middle Township home Tuesday afternoon.
Firefighters got the call around 1:15 p.m. that this home in the area of Vick Avenue was on fire.
The first truck to arrive on scene found the house fully engulfed in flames. Fortunately no one was inside when the blaze broke out.
Today's hot temperatures also made it difficult for the crews fighting the fire, some of whom had to be treated for heat exhaustion on scene.
"With the heat something like this when its 90 something degrees with the humidity about 80%, we got guys - they can only stay in the house, maybe 5 minutes then they gotta come back out, we've gotta bring in new crews," said Asst. Chief Jim Belles of the Rio Grande Fire Company.
Firefighters called the house a total loss.
The American Red Cross is helping to find shelter for the residents.
