NASA astronauts perform spacewalk

Posted: Updated:
Two NASA astronauts at the International Space Station ventured outside today to replace failed equipment.

Astronauts Steve Swanson and Rick Mastracchio exited the space station and made their way to replace a failed backup multiplexer-dermultiplexer.

You can see them removing the equipment on video taken by their cameras.

The equipment they are replacing helps control the external cooling system, mobile transporter rail car and other functions.

Mastracchio is the one whose suit has the red stripes.

The spacewalk is Mastracchio's ninth and Swanson's fifth.
