New program to replace trees destroyed by Hurricane Sandy

Posted: Updated:
NEW JERSEY - The Christie administration has announced a program to replace trees destroyed by Hurricane Sandy.

Over 100,000 tree seedlings will be given away to residents in more than 100 communities.

The New Jersey Tree Recovery Campaign is being run through the department of environmental protection's state forestry service and the Arbor Day Foundation.

Up to 1,000 trees per municipality will begin to be distributed on Saturday and will continue throughout the month of April.

While the seedlings will be roughly knee high when they receive them, residents are asked to keep in mind the full grown size of the tree when planting it.
