Police say no one else is missing in NYC rubble

Posted: Updated:
New York City police say no one else is missing in the smoldering remains of the 2 apartment buildings that collapsed Wednesday.

Crews brought in heavy equipment including a backhoe and bulldozer Thursday night as they searched through the wreckage.

They also used sound-detecting devices to check for signs of survivors.

At least 8 people were killed and more than 70 others were injured after a gas explosion at 116th street and Park Avenue in East Harlem that leveled two buildings.

The force of the blast was so strong that it registered on the Richter Scale at just under .5, according to Columbia University.

The blast knocked groceries off store shelves and sent dust and smoke billowing into the sky and onto streets, covering sidewalks and cars.
