The family of 21-year-old Kennedy Rios is hoping for answers.
"I just really miss my brother and I want him home. I don't care where he's at, I just really want him home right now," said Kennedy’s sister, Luz Rios.
Rios' sister says her brother attended a party Tuesday night and left early Wednesday morning, with no protection against the freezing temperatures.
"He left the party without a jacket, gloves, hat and that was at like 12:30 at night and after that no one has seen him. He left his phone at the party as well and he’s been missing since," said Rios.
Police say Rios was reported missing Wednesday evening. Using a police k–9, Rios' scent was tracked to the area of Ski Beach in Ventnor. Around 10 a.m. Thursday morning, Ventnor and State Police began searching in the bay, a search that brought no results.
"The bloodhound tracked his smell down there but they haven't found anything,” said Kennedy’s sister. “So we're really hoping he’s just somewhere hanging out maybe."
Police say that just because the scent led them to the bay, that does not necessarily mean Rios was ever in the water. Now the investigation will continue. The Ventnor Detective Bureau will continue to pursue leads in the missing person case. The family plans on checking homeless shelters in Atlantic City as they try to piece together Kennedy’s disappearance.
"At first we just thought he was probably at a girlfriend house or something but then he didn't show up at work, no call, no show, that's not like him. His girlfriend showed up at the house looking for him. It’s just been crazy," said Luz Rios.
For now the family is pleading for the public to help in their search.
"Please somebody, look and see my son, please, his name is Kennedy Rios," said his mother, Gumercinda Andia.
Rios' family describes Kennedy as a stocky build, five-foot- six, 160 pounds, last seen wearing a checkered flannel shirt and jeans. Police and family are asking anyone with information to contact Ventnor Police at 609- 822- 2101.
