Bad Weather equals Big Business for some

ATLANTIC COUNTY - The weather outside is frightful but for some businesses, it's delightful.  While many are staying in to avoid the cold, local business are going out.

"Today usually more delivery than pick up order" said Wen Key of Empress Chinese Restaurant.

According to George Roome, Manager of Micchelli’s Pizza "we're definitely busier on a snowy day it just increases delivery especially, probably about 50%."

While most schools and many offices across south jersey were closed on Friday, a majority of eateries were open for business.

"We definitely have to put on some extra staff to accommodate.  Because it's just so busy, we need extra bodies" said Roome.

So why the increase in delivery? If you ask these local restaurants, it's simple.

"Outside is snowing and it's cold outside so they maybe want food from restaurant and get delivery" said Key.

"People don't want to leave their houses, so they just stay home, but they get hungry and what do they do, they call us.  We'll do the driving said Roome."
