In Weymouth Township, two people are dead after an early morning fire tore through the trailer they were staying in.
New Jersey State Police are now working to discover how the fatal fire began.
"It was a towable trailer and it's totally destroyed...I mean, there's nothing left," said Chief Robert Gibney of the Dorothy Volunteer Fire Company and EMS.
It was just before 7 o'clock this morning when officials with the Dorothy Volunteer Fire Company say they responded to a property near the intersection of 10th and Cape May Avenues where they found a 28 x 5 ft. trailer engulfed in flames.
Gibney explained, "It was fully involved. There was fire coming out of everywhere upon our arrival."
Dorothy fire fighters say a man and a woman, both of whom appeared to be in their 50s, were inside at the time of the fire.
One victim was pronounced dead at the scene and another
Fire officials tell NBC40 that a male victim, around 50 years of age, was pulled out of the burning trailer by a family member. Officials say he was given CPR on the scene and then transported to Inspira Medical Center Vineland where he died a short time later.
The other victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Neighbors say they are shocked and saddened to learn about the deaths. Ted Maniero lives nearby and told NBC40, "I just thought it was their trailer for vacation or whatever. I didn't realize there was anybody living in it." Michael Sasses also lives in Weymouth and said, "I didn't even know there was a trailer there. I mean, it's kind of sad. I don't know what happened, but like I said...it's sad."
Officials are not yet releasing the victims' names until family members are notified.
The State Police Arson and Bomb Unit, along with Crime Scene Investigators South Detectives, responded to the scene and say the investigation is ongoing.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
