MAYS LANDING -
In the spirit of holiday giving, a local auto body shop gifted a deserving resident a car in their annual giveaway Friday.
"I'm still a little in shock!"
Luigi Esposito was surprised to discover he was this year's recipient of the annual Admiral Auto Body car giveaway.
"It looks amazing and it's red!"
Luigi's co–worker, Lisa Becker submitted the application and letter that won over the judges.
"I wrote the letter and she called me and I was just really amazed that it all came to where it came and I'm very happy for Luigi and that's why I did it."
Luigi, who lost everything during hurricane sandy, works seven days a week and was in desperate need of a reliable mode of transportation after his old vehicle failed.
"He has a car that breaks down every other day and he works seven days a week. I think a car like this is just going to be something more reliable for him."
According to admiral auto body, thousands of dollars went into refurbishing this once totaled car, but for Luigi it was priceless.
"It's just amazing! I'm impressed!"
"We're privileged to donate this rehab wreck donated to us by farmers insurance and we had various vendors from the tri–state area donate approximately 14 thousand dollars in parts to rehab the wreck" says Christina Rivera, Operations Manager for Admiral Auto Body.
According to Zachary Fearn, Admiral Auto Body Shop Manager, “It’s actually about 150 man hours of labor, guys come in before work, after work, they come in weekends (Saturday and Sunday) and donate their time for us. It’s really not possible without them.” Rick Trout, Field Consultant: Farmers Insurance Group says "This is the best way we can give back, by fixing a car and giving it to somebody that needs it."
