Atlantic City’s Boardwalk Hall will end the year on a high note as it has been recognized as one of the Top Stops of 2013 by leading entertainment trade publications Venues Today and Billboard. Boardwalk Hall placed eleventh in the world on both charts for yearly rankings among venues in the 10,001-15,000 capacity category. The SMG-managed arena was also ranked number three in North America and two in the United States by Billboard and number four in the United States and five in North America by Venues Today.
According to Venues Today’s year-end report, grosses are up overall in the Year-End Top Stops report. The listings were based on concert and event gross ticket sales from October 16, 2012 to October 15, 2013. During this time, Boardwalk Hall accumulated a total box office gross of $10,526,761, placing itself on the chart and in the company of mid-sized venues around the world such as the Brisbane Entertainment Center in Australia, O2 World Hamburg, the Intrust Bank Arena in Wichita, Kansas and the Ice Palace in St. Petersburg, Russia, just to name a few. Some notable events Boardwalk Hall hosted within this timeframe have included Carrie Underwood’s “Blown Away” tour, Adrian Broner vs. Antonio DeMarco in the WBC Lightweight World Championship, The Who’s “Quadrophenia and More” tour, AHL hockey, “Operation Hat Trick”, a charity exhibition hockey game for victims of Superstorm Sandy, WWE’s “Road to Wrestlemania”, Beyonce’s “The Mrs. Carter Show”, and the 2014 Miss America Competition.
Billboard rankings were based on box office grosses from November 14, 2012 to November 12, 2013, where Boardwalk Hall totaled $13,141,038 for the year. The venue was surrounded by the likes of other international mid-sized arenas such as Perth Arena, the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas, and Vector Arena in Auckland, New Zealand. In addition to the yearly events listed above, the Billboard report also included a three day sell-out concert of Phish, a huge event for Boardwalk Hall in 2013.

Since 2003, Boardwalk Hall has received recognition on nine prior occasions from both Venues Today and Billboard magazines as either the top grossing mid-sized arena in North America or the world. Last year Boardwalk Hall was named the number two “Top Stop of the Decade” by Venues Today which was based on total box office gross from July 1, 2002 to June 31, 2012 and most recently Boardwalk Hall was ranked among the top ten venues by both Venues Today and Billboard in their 2013 mid-year charts.

Boardwalk Hall was one of seven SMG-managed buildings to rank in the Venues Today top twenty stops of 2013 for mid-sized arenas.
