LOWER TWP. -
On December 21, 2013, Lower Township Police responded to a report of a burglary in progress in the 300 Block of West Greenwood Avenue, Villas, NJ. After a short foot pursuit, police arrest William J. Hackett age 22 of East Tampa Avenue, Villas, NJ for burglary. Investigation on scene by Patrolman Eric Coombs, Patrolman Matthew Gamble, Patrolman James McNulty and Detective Joseph Boyle led to William J. Hackett being charged with two residential burglaries. His girlfriend Emily A. Doucherty age 21 of Atlantic Avenue, North Cape May, NJ, was also charged with burglary of two residents in that area.
William Hackett was charged with burglary, conspiracy and criminal mischief. Emily Doucherty was charged with burglary, and conspiracy. Bail was set at $75,000 cash for each suspect by JMC Thomas Hillegass. They were lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Center, where they await their next court date.
On December 26, 2013 William Hackett was charged with 13 additional counts of burglary, theft and criminal mischief based on an investigation completed by Detective First Class Michael Majane and Detective Brian McEwing of the Lower Township Police Department Detective Division. These residential burglaries occurred in the North Cape May section of Lower Township between September and December 2013.
