Obamacare application deadline extended

Posted: Updated:
SOUTH JERSEY - People looking to sign up for healthcare through the federal exchange have an extra day to enroll.
The deadline for signing up for coverage to start January 1st is Monday.

But a government spokeswoman said that consumers will be able to select a plan through Tuesday and still get coverage starting at the beginning of the year.

The government website has been plagued by computer glitches since it went live earlier this year.

Here in South Jersey, those charged with signing people up for healthcare say they're overcoming computer glitches and bringing healthcare to those who have never had it before.
"You talk to a person that comes in to sign up for the coverage and one of the most overwhelming statements I hear is "I'm finally going to have coverage. I'm finally going to have coverage," said John Fuqua, Certified Application Counselor at CompleteCare.
If you have any questions about signing up for healthcare, call 1-800-318-2596 or visit www.healthcare.gov.
