Atlantic City's casino revenues went up by 3.6 % in October but those numbers may be deceiving.
Hurricane Sandy forced Atlantic City's 12 casinos to shut down for between six and nine days in late October last year. This is only the fourth time in the last five years that casino revenues showed a monthly increase. Four casinos still showed declines for the month, but revel was up 21%. Atlantic City's casino revenue has been falling since 2007. Matthew Levinson, Chariman of the casino control commission says that any increase is certainly encouraging and he hopes that we will continue to see improvement in monthly revenues throughout the rest of the year.
