A plan to reshuffle Hurricane Sandy relief funds could benefit over 1,000 families in New Jersey.
New Jersey's Department of Community Affairs is asking the federal government if $160 million dollars can be moved from a small business grant and loan program, instead going to rebuild partially damaged houses or knock down those that can't be saved. Under this proposal, Commissioner Richard Constable says 800 to 1,100 families could get off of waiting lists and into rebuilt homes.
