Local dentist holding second annual "Cash for Candy" event
It has always been a known fact that dentists don't like Halloween, but one local practice is offering up a real treat for trick-or-treaters.
Brickworks Dental in Mays Landing is holding their Second Annual "Cash for Candy" Halloween event.
The dental office is paying kids $1 for every pound of candy they wish to donate to the troops through operation gratitude.
"So, when I was in iraq, we would get care packages from home. It would always be toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, and then there would always be candy in there. I remember getting a melted snickers bar. It was 130 degrees and it still tasted like it was brand new out of the box. It just reminded me of home. Candy is just one of those things that bring you back home to the states," said Dr. Deryck Pham of Brickworks Dental.
The kids have also been drawing pictures and sending letters to the soldiers that will be sent along with the candy.
Last year the office collected 600 pounds of candy and this year they hope to collect 1,000 pounds.
Kids who live in the area can still donate candy up until 8:00pm on Tuesday night.
