Congressman LoBiondo requests additional aid for bayshore communities

Posted: Updated:
CUMBERLAND COUNTY - Many along the Delaware bayshore in Cumberland County are still struggling to recover from Hurricane Sandy.

Congressman Frank LoBiondo urged Governor Christie in a letter Monday for more aid from the state's cut of the $1.46 billion dollars in federal funds recently released by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development.

LoBiondo says in the letter that the Cumberland County bayshore towns were also hit hard by the storm and have struggled with their recovery efforts throughout the last year.

But because Cumberland County did not qualify as one of the nine hardest hit counties, these communities have not received the level of assistance that the congressman felt they deserved.

LoBiondo also offered to continue to work with the administration to ease some of the restrictions on the use of recovery money.
