The dune issue is the center of the Longport Borough Commission Meeting Wednesday afternoon.
The Shore Protection Project is set to begin in April still needs easements or permission for the use of the land.Wednesday afternoon two measures were introduced one to allow easements on borough owned land. The other will help Longport to obtain easements from private property owners. The Mayor hopes that education will be key in receiving landowners' permission.
Longport Mayor Nick Russo stated, "It protects our infrastructure, it protects our property, our public property, our private property but more importantly this is about saving lives."
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Department of Environmental Protection will hold an informational meeting for Longport residents on November 22nd at 1:30 PM.
