Prevention was a top topic in Pleasantville on Monday.
The Atlantic County Division of Public Health held a Lead Poisoning Prevention Education and Awareness event on Monday at the One Stop Career Center.
Free lead testing kits were made available Monday, as well as free blood tests to see if kids have lead poising.
"It's really important to get your child tested. A child can appear normal but maybe have some difficulties with irritability, or hyperactivity, or attention deficit disorder and quite often it associated with high blood level," said Atlantic County Public Health Officer Patricia Diamond.
Officials say that the first step is to educate parents on the dangers of lead poisoning.
