HAMILTON TWP. -
An Atlantic County park is shutting its gates for months in order to go through a significant facelift.
Lake Lenape Park East in Hamilton Township is closed beginning Monday as the county begins a $2.5 million project that's expected to last throughout the next six months.
One building will be demolished and improvements will include new lighting, pathway and pavilion refurbishing, upgrades to the arcade building, and the catering hall will be renovated with a new kitchen, a new bathroom, and an extension for administrative offices.
"We're just enhancing what's already a beautiful setting and its hear for the enjoyment of the public, its basically a free park," said Glen Mawby, Director of Facilities Management in Atlantic County.
Officials say a huge focus of the renovation work includes making the entire park compatible with the Americans With Disabilities Act.
