Posted: Updated:
TOMS RIVER - Marking the one year anniversary of Hurricane Sandy, volunteers from all over the state will be pitching in on "Sandy Service Day".

Sandy Service Day was started by the Hurricane Sandy NJ Relief Fund and Jersey Cares.

There are 85 volunteer projects scheduled throughout the state on Saturday October 26th and Tuesday October 29th.

Monday, volunteers sorted supplies at the Home Depot in Toms River for the thousands of expected volunteers to use at the 45 different sites along the shore.

The service projects include repairing homes, painting community facilities, removing debris, assembling "welcome home" painting kits, and rebuilding and painting playgrounds.
