ATLANTIC CITY -
On Wednesday, October 16, 2013, at approximately 3:45 am hours, Officer Frankie Lane and Office Julian Schwenger were flagged down in reference to a disturbance in front of 2437 Atlantic Avenue. The officers saw a ford Explorer in the middle of the unit north block of Florida Avenue that had crashed into a brick wall of an adjacent building located in the 2500 block of Atlantic Avenue. The vehicle had extensive damage and the building appeared to have sustained major structural damage. The Explorer was unoccupied.
Officer Schwenger interviewed the registered owner of the Ford Explorer who stated that a male, later identified as Alonso Marin, age 23 of Atlantic City, took her keys while she was in the bar and moved her vehicle. Marin then crashed into the brick wall and ran.
The officers transmitted a description of Marin to back up officers. Within minutes Marin was located and arrested for driving while intoxicated. The Atlantic City Fire Department was requested on scene to evaluate the structural stability of La Bodaga Grocery Store. Marin was charged with driving while intoxicated.
