Lima Bean Festival held in West Cape May

Posted: Updated:
WEST CAPE MAY - They may not be your child's favorite side-dish at dinner time, but lima beans were the most popular legumes in West Cape May on Monday.
The shade tree commission at Wilbraham Park has hosted a Lima Bean Festival every year since 1985.

West Cape May was formerly known as the lima bean capitol of the world, and every year the festival features vendors with items ranging from lima bean cake, ice cream, even jewelry.

The festival was originally scheduled for this weekend, but the rain pushed it back to Monday, leaving lima bean fans across the country, worried they'd miss out on one of their favorite festivals.
"Visitors call me about the lima bean festival from all over the country, from Texas, California, people plan their weekends around when is the lima bean festival," said Diane Flanegan, Organizer.
Funds from the festival help the shade tree commission maintain Wilbraham Park.

The commission also hosts a strawberry and tomato festival each year.
