Expecting a big September with the much anticipated return of the Miss America Pageant, Atlantic City's casinos continued their downward trend, seeing their revenue fall by nearly 13% when compared with September a year ago.
Table games revenue was down nearly 19% from a year ago while slots revenue was down 10.6%. State regulators say the slot decline was partly due to gamblers betting nearly 4 million dollars less in promotional credits last month. Eleven of the 12 casinos posted monthly declines. Only the Atlantic Club Casino Hotel showed an increase, up nearly 4% for the month. The Atlantic City Convention and Visitors Authority points to the return of Miss America as well as other popular September events for the month's 49% increase in visitors to the Atlantic City Information Centers.
