CAPE MAY COUNTY -
Police departments in Cape May County now have another alternative to using lethal force when arresting someone who is resisting.
Many of the police departments in Cape May County recently were given Tasers, purchased by the prosecutor's office with forfeiture funds.
Officers were trained on how to use these devices that deliver an electrical charge that will stop a suspect in their tracks, without causing serious body harm.
"It's a tool that police departments can use if someone needs to be restrained or in some fashion dealt with, where they don't have to use lethal force," said Robert Taylor, Cape May County Prosecutor.
These devices are also equipped with audio and video recording capabilities, in the event that a tasing incident needs to be investigated further.
