As fire prevention week continues, firefighters in Margate were working hard Tuesday to teach kids how to react when there is a fire.
Firefighters were at the Jewish Community Center where they put on multiple demonstrations showing off some of their firefighting equipment for the kids. The hope is that the kids will take away an important message from events like these.
"If you start young and you keep repeating it year after year, it'll sink in and they'll get the message that we're trying to teach them fire safety," said Lt. Chris Baumgartel, of the Margate fire Department.
Margate is just one of many other South Jersey fire departments that will continue fire prevention activities throughout the rest of the week.
