Trout stocking pushed back due to warm, dry weather

Posted: Updated:
HAMMONTON -

The warm and dry start to fall is having an affect on fishing.

Warm water and low water levels have pushed back the second week of trout stocking in New Jersey by two days. Hammonton Lake, two Cumberland County lakes, and the Maurice River will now be stocked Thursday, as opposed to Tuesday.

The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection Division of Fish and Wildlife said in a release that this is to ensure water conditions are suitable for the fish.

The number of fish allotted for each waterway will not change.
