A group of businesses will soon own the property they have been using for parking.
The piece of property at 209 East Schellenger Avenue was owned by the city and leased to local businesses for parking space until the city decided to put it up for auction. The Wildwood Business Improvement District Management Corporation purchased the lot for $800,000, the minimum bid at auction.
There are some restrictions on the sale, the property must continue to be used for parking and in connection with the city's Vision 2015 plan, there will be construction on a parking garage and a down town transportation hub.
The sale of the land is still subject to approval by the Wildwood Board of Commissioners.
