Touch a Truck event invites families to discover trucks of all kinds

Posted: Updated:

There was plenty to get revved up about Saturday in Egg Harbor Township, as the Family Service Association of South Jersey rolled out its second annual Touch a Truck event.

Families were invited to climb, learn and discover trucks of all kinds. Kids had the chance to explore fire trucks old and new, see the back of a police squad car, and climb on construction vehicles like a dump truck and a backhoe. Organizers say in addition to bringing the community closer to police and firemen — it's just plain fun.

Cindy Herdman Ivins, with Family Service Association stated, "It's challenging times we're in. We're all recovering from Sandy. Our community has a need to have fun together and that's what today is."

The mission of the Family Service Association is to improve communities, promote volunteerism and develop the potential of all families.
