Who will claim the crown of Miss America 2014?
In the hours leading up to the pageant's finale, it was the question on everyone's mind with each fan picking his or her favorite contestant.
"Well, Cara is really important to me and others in the New Jersey community because she is a role model to younger children."
"My very good friend Brooke Mosteller is Miss South Carolina.
And, whether supporters are here to cheer on the Southern Belles or hold up signs for contestants hailing from The Heartland, everyone had their own reasons why their favorite should wear the Miss America crown.
“She has so much personality, is larger than life and lights up every room that she enters,” said Miss South Carolina’s friend.
"I think girls in the military deserve the crown because they’re fighting for our country,” expressed an Atlantic City resident.
And the admiration for Miss Kansas continued...
"She is the first pageant girl in pageant history to show that it's okay to show off your tattoos,” explains another supporter.
And people were not only excited about a new era in the pageant's history, but also about the iconic event returning to it's roots.
"It a long history, there's a lot of tradition here, it's great for people to watch it and see it back here where it all started," said a fan.
"Atlantic City you have the pageant back,” she added.
