A new luxury hotel opened in Cape May County Thursday night.
Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno was among those on hand when the ribbon was cut at the grand opening of the Hotel Icona Diamond Beach. The all-suites resort was built on the site of a 1970's beach hotel, and features 108 suites, the Coastal Blue Oceanside Grille, and a 425 foot private beach.
Icona Investment Group's CEO says Cape May County was the perfect location for this latest project.
"It was the only thing lacking in Cape May County, was an ultra luxury hotel, so we said to ourselves, what if, what if we could transform this hotel into something that you'd find in south beach or one of these high areas, that would absolutely just blow people's minds," said CEO Eustace Mita.
The Lt. Governor also said the hotel is a sign of New Jersey's recovery from Hurricane Sandy.
