A popular boardwalk amusement park being sued over allegations that its management knew that a ride was unsafe before it broke, injuring a 13 year old girl.
The lawsuit filed today on behalf of Gia Mastroserio of Middlesex County, alleges that management of Morey's Pier in Wildwood ignored advanced warnings that their Sea Dragon ride could collapse.
The accident happened back on August 19th, 2011 when the mast of the Sea Dragon ride collapsed due to corrosion, causing Mastroserio to suffer serious eye injuries, permanent facial and body scarring and severe physical and emotional pain according to the lawsuit.
The suit goes on to say that the makers of the ride had long recommended that the mast be either removed or subjected to rigorous inspection and maintenance.
NBC40 reached out to Morey's Pier and officials say that they do not comment on pending litigation.
