Imagine turning a six dollar purchase into millions of dollars, and then going to work the next day.
That's what one Ocean County woman did after finding out she was one of 16 coworkers who pooled their money to purchase the winning Powerball ticket. Sue Nickel, of Eagleswood Township says she will never forget the moment she found out, 7:30 Thursday morning, that she is now a millionaire.
Nickel was one of 16 county employees who paid six dollars for an office pool to purchase the Powerball tickets. Nickel says the money is a huge relief, especially since her home was severely damaged in Hurricane Sandy.
"It was just devastating, we had 7 feet of water, and we cleaned out a lot of stuff. We're starting to regain, but this money will really help us redo what we need to do," said Nickel.
Nickel added that she plans to continue working for another year and a half, but that her husband, who she says has worked hard all his life, will now retire. Nickel also got another gift Friday night as her son returned home from the Air Force.
