A couple drowns while visiting Atlantic City beach
ATLANTIC CITY -
A Saturday night swims turns deadly at an Atlantic City beach when a man and a woman drown after swimming near a jetty.
Around 7 p.m., Atlantic City police were called to the beach of Martin Luther King Jr. by on duty Atlantic City Beach Patrol lifeguards.
Authorities say that once the victims were pulled from the water, lifeguards performed CPR on the two drowning victims, 21-year old Samuel Jackson of Lowell, Mass., and Thewinco Caesar, 22, from Darby, Pa.
Family members on scene say the couple came with friends to Atlantic City for the day. Beach patrol Chief Rod Aluise says the victims originally went swimming later with a larger group when they drowned.
The couple was taken to Atlanticare Regional Medical Center where they were pronounced dead shortly after arriving to the hospital.
