Posted: Updated:

The Wildwood City Commissioners honored their heroes on Wednesday, two weeks ago a woman fell in the back bay and police officer Spencer Smith immediately jumped in the water after her.

When three firefighters arrived on the scene they also jumped in to help rescue the woman, who had a medical condition.

"It's an unfortunate incident but it's just great to see how the guys responded to it, no one hesitated, everyone did their job, it's a great feeling," said Commissioner of Public Safety, Tony Leonetti.

City officials say the men went above and beyond to rescue this woman. On Wednesday at the City Commissioners meeting the rescuers were recognized.
