Sea Isle City officials are celebrating the completion of a road improvement project that is months in the making.
The completion of "Gateway" road improvement project along JFK Boulevard was celebrated with a ribbon cutting Tuesday afternoon.
The project will help improve not only the entrance to sea isle city but will also increase pedestrian safety and will alleviate some of the flooding issues experienced in the shore town by raising the roadway.
"This whole area here during hurricane sandy was absolutely under water, the public safety building, the fire dept, and everybody here.
It was absolutely necessary to raise this road because it became a public safety issue, " said Cape May County Freeholder Director Gerald Thornton.
The county was able to secure federal funds to complete the project.
