Sandals, sun, and sunscreen were all present in Ocean City Friday, as families having fun came to the Jersey shore to celebrate the first official day of Summer 2013.
"I'm so glad it warmed up, its definitely a relief," says a tourist from Philadelphia.
"The weather was perfect. I needed a run, after all week just to relax and to get calm," says a local teacher.
"It's beautiful out, so obviously hit the beach today, get a tan on," says another Ocean City local.
With temperatures in the low 80's the official start of Summer was just right for some, as temps were neither too hot nor too cold. With the week beginning as a wet and dreary one, residents and tourists alike are kicking back and enjoying some sun as they welcome the Summer season.
"It's a breathe of fresh air. It's gorgeous, I'll take this all summer long. It's not to hot not to humid like it is here in the Summer, it's a perfect day," says another local.
Which comes as a relief for some, because on Memorial day the unofficial start of Summer the weather was not too perfect.
"I was actually down here Memorial Day weekend, it was actually a little cold and a little rainy," says an Ocean City local.
As temperatures begin to climb and the Summer officially begins, many residents and tourists are looking forward to a little R&R and fun in the sun along the shore.
"Lot's of swimming this year, lots of going on the boat, surf, and kite sailing stuff like that," says an Ocean City Middle-School student.
"A little boogie boarding a little skin boarding, laid down get some sun," the Ocean City resident says with a smile.
