With an abundance of daylight on this longest day of the year, it was a perfect day of action for volunteers from the United Way.
Volunteers were in brigantine between 17th and 37th streets today rebuilding the fitness trail that was destroyed by Hurricane Sandy.Organizers say rebuilding the trail was just a small part of a very large job.
Director of Community Outreach, Amanda McGowan stated, "especially in Brigantine. This community was really hit hard by the storm, and being able to put back something as simple as this fitness trail really means a lot to offer to the community and the residents."
Volunteers came from local businesses and organizations for today's event, which was sponsored by Tropicana Casino Resort and the Atlantic County Utilities Authority. The United Way National Day of Service is in its sixth year.
